José Luis Irigoyen, Director, Transport & ICT Global Practice, World Bank, USA

José Luis Irigoyen

Mr. Irigoyen is Director for the Transport and Information and Communications Technologies Global Practice of the World Bank. Since its establishment on July 1, 2014, the Global Practice is responsible for all transport and ICT activities, which include an active portfolio of about US$42 billion in lending commitments and 224 projects under supervision and similar number of knowledge activities in more than 80 countries. Previously Mr. Irigoyen was Director for Transport, Water and ICT Department in the Sustainable Development Network, where he was responsible for policy and strategic advice on transport, water, ICT, infrastructure and financial solutions to help mobilize private sector financing for infrastructure projects. He led the Bank’s Global Expert Team on Public Private Partnerships between 2010 and 2013. Prior to that position, Mr. Irigoyen was the Senior Manager for the Sustainable Development Department of the Africa Region between November 2008 and December 2010. Mr. Irigoyen, an Argentine national, joined the Bank in 1990 in the Latin America and Caribbean Region, where he held positions of increasing responsibilities including that of Transport Sector Manager between 2001 and 2008.
