Guangtao Wang, Former Minister, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Vice Chairman, Chinese Science Center of International Academy of Sciences for Europe and Asia (IASEA), China
Prof. Wang is the former minister of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, P. R. China, and current Vice Chairman of Chinese Science Center of International Academy of Sciences for Europe and Asia (IASEA). He is also an adjunct professor and PhD supervisor of Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Beijing University of Technology, and honorary professor of Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has long been engaged in the research and practice of urban and transportation planning, public transport, transportation policy and legislation etc.
Prof. Wang was the chairman of Environment and Resources Protective Committee of the National People's Congress from 2008 to 2012. Between 2001 and 2008, he was the minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China, taking main responsibilities for guiding the planning and construction of rural and urban areas, establishing national standards of construction, and guiding construction activity and regulating the construction market in China. Prior to that position, Prof. Wang successively held the position of mayors of Xuzhou, Harbin and Beijing between 1984 and 2001.
