The WCTRS Young Researcher’s Conference is a one-day conference which will be held on May 26, 2019 - the first day of the World Conference on Transport Research (WCTR), at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India.

Dedicated to the next generation of professionals and experts, the WCTR-Y aims to bring together PhD students, post-doctoral fellows and young researchers, to highlight their work and achievements, giving them the opportunity to play a part in the scientific progress, to discuss new research developments and foster the exchange of ideas in the field of transportation studies.

In addition to the presentation of conference articles, the 2019 Edition of the WCTRS-Y will include special sessions targeted towards the academic and professional development of young researchers during which they will be able to interact and learn from their seniors.


The theme of WCTR-Y 2019 is ‘The Future of Transportation’. Sample topics welcomed by the conference include but are not limited to:

Submission of extended abstracts

Extended abstracts are invited and should summarise the research study in no more than 1,500 words, state clearly its objectives, methodology and present and discuss the results. There is no template for extended abstracts. The first page should inform only title and author details, while the abstract itself should start from the second page. Abstracts should be submitted in Word format.

Publications and awards

Papers will be peer-reviewed using the same criteria as the ones used in the WCTR conference. The best papers will automatically qualify for the nominations to the WCTR prizes such as the Young Author Best Paper prize, and for special issues of academic journals from the WCTR conference.

Deadline for submission of extended abstracts: 30 August 2018
Notification of acceptance of abstracts: 05 October 2018
Deadline for submission of full-length papers: 30 November 2018
Notification of acceptance of papers: 4 January 2019
Author registration deadline: 25 January 2019
Submission of final papers: 15 February 2019
